Tomorrow you will find me celebrating in the state capital of Kansas.

I was thrilled to have a couple encaustic paintings juried into the art walk.

Kansas is in my blood. I dream of windmills, dust storms, and pet deer. My hair has never been tidy as a tribute to the fierce wind that whips across the prairie. My favorite foods are pickled beets and pickled green tomatoes. I know how to irrigate corn fields, crawl through barbed-wire fences and ride dirt bikes through the yuccas. I also know how to make a really juicy liverwurst, mayo and garden-picked tomato sandwich. I’ve watched tornadoes twirl by across the treeless fields from my back stoop. And when the beautiful meadowlark with its yellow breast pauses on a fence post, I hold my breath in wonder.

Please join me tomorrow if you are able at the Break Room, 911 South Kansas Avenue, Topeka , KS.
